About Lainey

Lyrical Interior Design is led by Lainey McKinlay, a designer with a lifelong love of art, music, and architecture. Raised by two artists, creativity has always been at the center of her world.


Lainey holds a degree in World Music and Cultures from San Francisco State University. In 2017, she returned to school to study Interior Design at Chabot College, where she earned certifications in Interior Design and Kitchen & Bath Design. Her dedication earned her an Outstanding Student Award and her first design internship in 2019.


Lainey is drawn to color, maximalism, and historical architecture, while always tailoring each space to her clients’ comfort and lifestyle. Outside of design, she’s a singer and is currently a vocalist for the Frank Zappa tribute band, Stinkfoot Orchestra.
